MAC stands for Media Access Control, and, long story short, the MAC address is a code used to identify a particular computer or device on various types of networks, such as Wi-Fi, ethernet, Bluetooth and many more. This article explains how a switch learns MAC address and why it floods frames when it doesn't know the destination MAC address. All computers have a MAC address but I’ve simplified them. Our switch has a MAC address table and it will learn where all the MAC addresses are in the network.
The Opening of the Task Manager: One can use this option if an individual feels that he or she needs to stop an application immediately that is currently running on the windows platform. The task management system can be opened and the entire system can be closed with this shortcut. However, these are generally the normal tasks performed by the shortcut on a PC.

Jonathan Young [email protected]. Marcel van Leeuwen wrote: Out of intrest why do you want to changes the MAC address? In my case I get better routing and speeds with the ip my Dlink pulls with it's mac address. Any other mac address gets me internet performance issues. If I run pfSense I am able to change my mac easily from within the web admin and get the preferred ip that performs better.
Of course I realize this is an isp problem but it is easier to change the mac and be done with it than mess about on the phone with 'support'.:P. Thanks for the tutorial. I also expected the feature built in and wonder why it is not there. I suppose it is seen as hackers tool but it has many above board uses too. I am connected to my ISP through Linksys router and the connection is tied to MAC address of the router interface. Now if I want to switch to connecting via ClearOS installation I need to change MAC of the NIC to that of the router or else I would have to phone up my ISP and ask for it to be changed. And sometimes I want to use backup machine with COS installation for times when I tinker with my main COS server or maybe I want to change NIC, again MAC address is different and again I would have to phone up and few days later again phone them up.
How long before they get tired of my calls?:lol. Ok for anybody wanting to do it, here's how: Enter console mode on the server, or log into it with putty. Then enter 'nano /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0'. Edit the 'HWADDR' to the mac address you would like (MAKE NOTE OF WHAT YOU INPUT!) Save changes to the file. Then enter this into the console: (make sure to use the same MAC that you put into the ifcfg-eth0 file) 'ifconfig eth0 down hw ether ' 'ifconfig eth0 up' Then type: 'service network restart' (P.S this is risky if you do not have a direct access to the clearOS system itself, just a warning) Then type 'ifconfig -a' and look at eth0's HWADDR to make sure the changes worked.
